On the afternoon of 24 June 2026, the Vietnam Institute of Strategy and Policy for Industry and Trade (VIOIT) convened a meeting of the Subcommittee for the Evaluation of Doctoral Dissertation Research Papers for Doctoral Candidate Do Quoc Hung at its headquarters, 17 Yet Kieu Street, Hanoi.
The candidate is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics, majoring in Commercial Business (Code: 09.34.01.21), under the academic supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Ngoc Quyen and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Lich. His dissertation is entitled "Development of Viet Nam's Merchandise Exports to South Asia."
The Evaluation Subcommittee was established pursuant to Decision No. 777/QD-CLCT, issued by the Director General of VIOIT on 9 June 2026. The Subcommittee consisted of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Thanh, Chair; Dr. Lam Tuan Hung, Member; and Dr. Dang Cong Hien, Secretary. The session was also attended by researchers, doctoral candidates, and academic staff of the Institute.
During the evaluation, Doctoral Candidate Do Quoc Hung presented the three research papers forming part of his doctoral dissertation:
Research Paper 1: Theoretical Foundations of National Merchandise Export Development
Research Paper 2: Viet Nam's Merchandise Exports to South Asia: Performance Assessment and Key Findings
Research Paper 3: Strategic Directions and Policy Recommendations for Developing Viet Nam's Merchandise Exports to South Asia.
Following the presentation, members of the Subcommittee conducted an academic review of the research papers and acknowledged the candidate's efforts in systematically examining the theoretical foundations and practical experience relating to export market development in South Asia. The Subcommittee also recognized the dissertation's academic relevance and practical significance.
At the same time, members recommended that the candidate further refine the dissertation by standardizing terminology, addressing technical and editorial issues, and improving the structure of several chapters and sub-sections to enhance the overall coherence and academic quality of the study.
In its concluding remarks, the Subcommittee affirmed that the dissertation represents a rigorous research effort with both theoretical and practical value. It also concluded that the research is consistent with the objectives and scope of the doctoral programme in Commercial Business, demonstrates originality, and substantially satisfies the academic requirements for a doctoral dissertation.
Following its deliberations, the Subcommittee unanimously endorsed the three research papers and agreed that, subject to the incorporation of the recommended revisions, the dissertation may proceed to the Institutional-Level Doctoral Dissertation Evaluation Committee for the next stage of the doctoral assessment process.
