On the morning of 22 June 2026, the Vietnam Institute of Strategy and Policy for Industry and Trade (VIOIT) held the opening ceremony of the Pre-Departure Training Programme for Officials Assigned to Vietnam Trade Offices Abroad at the Institute's training facility located at 193 Vinh Hung Street, Hanoi.
The programme is designed to prepare officials for overseas assignments at Vietnam Trade Offices by strengthening the professional knowledge, practical skills, and operational competencies required to effectively perform trade representation, market intelligence, trade and investment promotion, and business support functions. It also aims to enhance participants' capacity to represent Viet Nam's economic and commercial interests, facilitate market access, address trade barriers, and assist Vietnamese enterprises in expanding into international markets.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Nguyen Van Hoi, Director General of VIOIT; Mr. Nguyen Quang Hong, Deputy Director General of the Department of Organization and Personnel under the Ministry of Industry and Trade; representatives of the Institute's departments and divisions; and 16 officials from agencies and units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade who will undertake overseas assignments at Vietnam Trade Offices.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen Van Hoi emphasized the increasingly important role of Vietnam Trade Offices in the context of Viet Nam's deepening international economic integration and the rapidly evolving global business environment.
"Vietnam Trade Offices abroad serve as the country's frontline representatives in promoting trade and investment, developing international partnerships, and safeguarding Viet Nam's economic and commercial interests. Serving at a Trade Office is both an honour and a significant responsibility, requiring not only professional expertise and integrity but also strong adaptability to the demands of digital transformation, green growth, and the changing dynamics of global trade," he stated.
The one-week programme, taking place from 22 to 29 June 2026, comprises 11 specialized training modules delivered by senior officials and experts from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and relevant agencies. The curriculum covers:

Trade remedies;

Public finance and asset management;

Multilateral trade policy;

Trade promotion;

Domestic market development;

Import and export management;

E-commerce and the digital economy;

Electricity development policy; and

Industrial policy and industrial development.
The programme is expected to equip participants with the professional competencies and practical capabilities required for effective service at Vietnam Trade Offices abroad. It also contributes to building a highly qualified, professional, and adaptable corps of trade representatives capable of supporting Viet Nam's international economic integration, expanding export markets, and enhancing the country's economic and commercial presence worldwide.
