Vietnam Halal Promotion and Experience Center Officially Launched

Hanoi, May 15, 2026 – The Vietnam Institute of Strategy and Policy for Industry and Trade (VIOIT), under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with Hanoi Green Cooperative, officially launched the Vietnam Halal Promotion and Experience Center (HalalViet) at a ceremony held in Hanoi. The initiative marks a significant step toward building a comprehensive Halal ecosystem in Vietnam and enhancing the capacity of Vietnamese enterprises to access and compete in the rapidly expanding global Halal market.

The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, central government agencies, provincial Departments of Industry and Trade, diplomatic missions from Islamic countries, international Halal organizations, experts, researchers, business associations, manufacturing and exporting enterprises, and media organizations.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen Van Hoi, Director of VIOIT, highlighted the remarkable growth of the global Halal economy and the increasing demand for products that comply with stringent standards of quality, food safety, hygiene, ethics, and cultural values.

“Driven by evolving consumer preferences and growing awareness of product quality and sustainability, the global Halal market continues to expand at a rapid pace,” Dr. Hoi noted. “With its strategic geographical location, rich natural resources, and strong potential in agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, and services, Vietnam is well positioned to become an important link in the global Halal supply chain. However, despite these advantages, many Vietnamese enterprises continue to face challenges in meeting certification requirements, accessing market information, and establishing effective international business networks. The absence of a coordinated support platform and an integrated trade ecosystem remains a major obstacle to deeper participation in the Halal market.”

Representing Hanoi Green Cooperative, Ms. Ba Thi Nguyet Thu, Director of the Cooperative and a founding partner of the HalalViet Promotion and Experience Center, emphasized that modern Halal consumers increasingly expect more than certification alone. Transparency, traceability, sustainability, and social responsibility throughout the supply chain have become critical requirements for market access and consumer trust.

The establishment of the Vietnam Halal Promotion and Experience Center is intended to address these challenges by providing an integrated platform to support businesses in exploring opportunities within the global Halal economy. The Center is also expected to strengthen international cooperation, facilitate trade and investment, and contribute to the development of a transparent and enabling environment for the growth of Vietnam’s Halal industry.

As Vietnam’s first integrated Halal trade and business support ecosystem, HalalViet aims to serve as a strategic hub connecting enterprises, cooperatives, certification bodies, investors, and international partners. The initiative represents an important milestone in the development of a modern and internationally connected Halal ecosystem capable of integrating more deeply into global value chains.

The Center is designed to provide businesses with professional support in understanding Halal standards and regulations, preparing certification documentation, improving competitiveness, developing transparent and sustainable supply chains, and meeting the increasingly sophisticated requirements of international markets.

A key component of the initiative is the development of the HalalViet.com digital platform, which is envisioned as a global B2B and B2C marketplace integrating product databases, electronic documentation systems, and traceability solutions. The platform is expected to facilitate connections between Vietnamese suppliers and international buyers, importers, distributors, and investors while expanding market access for certified Halal products.

Looking ahead, the Center aims not only to promote the export of Halal-compliant products but also to support the development of high-value processing industries, foster innovation, and contribute to the standardization of Halal products and services. In doing so, it aspires to position Vietnam as an emerging regional hub for Halal production, trade, and innovation.
