On the afternoon of April 23, 2024, the 30th Session of the VIOIT Dialgue took place at the headquarters of the Vietnam Institute of Strategy and Policy for Industry and Trade (VIOIT), located at No. 17 Yet Kieu, Hanoi. The Session focuses on critical issues pertaining to Vietnam's industry and trade sector. Initiated by the Institute in October 2021, these monthly dialogues aim to address pressing topics and foster development in the sector.
Event Details
Format: The dialogue was conducted in a hybrid format, with participants attending both in person at the Institute's headquarters and virtually via Zoom.
Host: The session was monitored by Mr. Ayumi Konishi, Senior Advisor of the Institute for Industry and Trade Strategy and Policy Research (VIOIT) and Senior Advisor to the Executive Director of the Center for Multilateral Cooperation on Development Finance (MCDF).
Participants: The event saw the participation of department leaders, researchers, scientists, and international experts who have been actively engaged with the VIOIT Dialogue Program.
Opening Remarks
Mr. Ayumi Konishi welcomed the delegates and emphasized the critical importance of human resource development in meeting future challenges, particularly from an industry and trade perspective.

- "Solutions to Improve the Effectiveness of Training and Fostering of Cadres" by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, Department of Trade Strategy and Policy Research.
- "Developing Human Resources in Vietnam's Industry and Trade Sector in the Context of International Integration" by Mr. Nguyen Quang Long, WTO & FTAs Consultation Center.
- "Labor Productivity in the Manufacturing and Processing Industry: Current Situation and Solutions" by Ms. Giap Minh Huyen, International Cooperation Team - VIOIT.
A particularly noteworthy presentation was "Human Resource Development in the Industry and Trade Sector" by Dr. Tran Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Head of the Information and Trade Promotion Department. Her presentation covered:
- The need for human resource development in the industry and trade sector.
- The role of human resources in these sectors.
- Strategies for developing the quantity, quality, and structure of human resources.
Discussion Topics
The dialogue generated extensive discussion and input from experts and business representatives, focusing on key issues:
- Improving the supply of quality human resources to attract more foreign direct investment (FDI) and capitalize on growth opportunities.
- Enhancing skills to meet the demands of increased AI usage across various industries.
- Ensuring Vietnam has a suitably skilled workforce for future economic development.
The organizing committee compiled recommendations and proposals based on the presentations and contributions from delegates and scientists. These will serve as a foundation for proposing actionable solutions to relevant authorities in the near future.
