Seminar: Promoting cooperation in scientific research, technological development, and innovation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation

In order to further implement the strategic cooperation framework between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, on the afternoon of February 11, 2026, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Institute of Strategy and Policy for Industry and Trade (VIOIT), General Director Nguyen Van Hoi and members of the Institute held a meeting and discussion with Mr. V.A. Galitsyn, representative of the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The discussion focused on several areas of cooperation in scientific research, technological development, and innovation previously agreed upon by the two Ministries.

The working session marked an important step forward in joint research efforts, while simultaneously laying the groundwork for cooperative activities in technological development and innovation between the two countries in the coming years.

In particular, both sides focused their discussions on finalizing the Draft Research Report entitled "The Chrysotile Asbestos Industry and the Impacts of Chrysotile Asbestos on Human Health and the Environment". This research project is jointly conducted by the Institute and the Scientific Council of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. It aims to implement the outcomes of the Minutes of the 13th Session of the Sub-Committee on Industry Cooperation, under the Vietnam - Russia Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade, and Scientific-Technological Cooperation, which was signed by the two Ministries on December 14, 2022.

During the meeting, the representative from the Russian Federation extended an invitation to the Ministry's Leadership and members to visit and work together to strengthen connections and explore the cooperation potential of the Sverdlovsk region. This is one of the most robust industrial and scientific centers of the Russian Federation, possessing outstanding strengths in metallurgy, heavy machinery manufacturing, and especially the mining industry (including large-scale chrysotile asbestos mines). Sverdlovsk is highly regarded as a potential strategic partner of Vietnam's Industry and Trade sector.

The close coordination ranging from scientific research and practical impact assessments to high-level visits and field surveys in key industrial regions of Russia, once again affirms the methodical and strategic steps taken by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam in promoting bilateral cooperation between the two countries, thereby further deepening and enhancing its effectiveness.
