Hanoi, May 26, 2026 – The Vietnam Institute of Strategy and Policy for Industry and Trade (VIOIT) convened a final evaluation session for the institute-level research project entitled “Research and proposal of solutions to improve the effectiveness of internal training on net zero in industrial and trade enterprises in the new context.” The project was led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Tra Giang, M.Sc., of VIOIT’s Department of Science and Training.
The Final Evaluation Committee was established under Decision No. 682/QĐ-CLCS, issued on May 21, 2026. The Committee was chaired by Dr. Hoang Truong of VIOIT. Other members included Associate Professor Dr. Ngo Thi Tuyet Mai of the National Economics University (Reviewer 1), Dr. Trinh Thi Thanh Thuy of VIOIT (Reviewer 2), Associate Professor Dr. Phan The Cong of the Thuongmai University, Dr. Do Quang of VIOIT, M.Sc. Ngo Duc Thanh of VIOIT, and M.Sc. Phan The Quyet of VIOIT, who served as Secretary of the Committee.
The evaluation session was attended by experts, researchers, departmental leaders, and members of the project team.
Presenting the project’s key findings, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tra Giang outlined four major research components. The first examined the concept of Net Zero and pathways toward achieving net-zero emissions. The second assessed the current status of corporate awareness, implementation practices, and training needs relating to Net Zero within Vietnam’s industry and trade sectors. The third explored strategic orientations and practical solutions to support enterprise training in response to emerging sustainability requirements. The final component proposed a comprehensive training framework aimed at strengthening enterprises’ capacity to develop and implement Net Zero strategies.
The research was undertaken in the context of accelerating global commitments to climate action and the growing pressure on businesses to align with international sustainability standards, carbon reduction targets, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) requirements. Against this backdrop, the project seeks to provide practical guidance for enterprises in building internal capabilities to support their low-carbon transition and long-term sustainable development.
Members of the Final Evaluation Committee highly appreciated the quality of the research, noting its rigorous implementation, clear structure, and strong adherence to the approved research framework. The study was recognized for providing a comprehensive overview of key concepts related to Net Zero, international and domestic commitments and agreements, implementation pathways, and the potential impacts of Net Zero transition on business operations.
The Committee emphasized that the topic addresses a highly specialized and emerging area of research, requiring extensive collection and analysis of both domestic and international data. Particular recognition was given to the research team’s efforts in examining the diverse characteristics of enterprises operating in the industry and trade sectors, as well as the challenges associated with assessing corporate readiness, awareness levels, workforce competencies, and organizational conditions necessary for developing and implementing Net Zero strategies.
To further strengthen the practical relevance and policy value of the study, Committee members recommended that the research team place greater emphasis on the project’s central objective—enhancing the effectiveness of internal Net Zero training programs within industrial and trade enterprises. Additional analysis was encouraged regarding training methodologies, competency development frameworks, organizational learning mechanisms, and factors influencing the effectiveness of corporate sustainability training in the evolving business environment.
Concluding the session, Dr. Hoang Truong, Chairman of the Final Evaluation Committee, expressed his appreciation to the Committee members and participating experts for their thoughtful and constructive feedback. Following discussion and evaluation, the Committee unanimously approved the project, subject to revision. The research team was requested to incorporate the Committee’s recommendations and finalize the report to ensure its academic rigor, practical applicability, and contribution to policy development.
The successful completion of the project provides an important knowledge base for strengthening enterprise capacity in climate governance and sustainability management, while supporting Vietnam’s broader efforts to achieve its Net Zero commitments and advance the transition toward a low-carbon and resilient economy.
