Hanoi, May 7, 2026 – The Vietnam Institute of Strategy and Policy for Industry and Trade (VIOIT) convened a final evaluation session for the institute-level research project entitled “Research and proposal of solutions to promote cross-border B2B e-commerce activities for several typical industries in Vietnam.” The project was led by Ms. Nguyen Thanh Van Hang, M.Sc., of the Institute’s Trade Research Department.
The Final Evaluation Committee was established under Decision No. 567/QD-CLCS, issued by the Director of VIOIT on May 4, 2026. The Committee was chaired by Dr. Nguyen Quang Tuyen of VIOIT. Other members included Dr. Do Quang of VIOIT (Reviewer 1), Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Loan of the Thuongmai University (Reviewer 2), Dr. Hoang Truong of VIOIT, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Ngoc Quyen of Foreign Trade University, M.Sc. Do Van Long of VIOIT, and M.Sc. Phan The Quyet of VIOIT, who served as Secretary of the Committee.
The session was attended by experts, researchers, departmental leaders, members of the research team, and other interested delegates.
Presenting the project’s key findings, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Van Hang outlined three principal areas of research. The first examined the theoretical foundations and key concepts of cross-border B2B e-commerce. The second analyzed the current state of cross-border B2B e-commerce activities in Vietnam’s textile and garment and wood furniture industries—two sectors that play an important role in the country’s export economy. The final chapter assessed emerging trends in cross-border digital trade, identified key influencing factors, and proposed policy recommendations and practical solutions to strengthen the participation of Vietnamese enterprises in international B2B e-commerce markets.
The study adopted a comprehensive and systematic approach to examining both the theoretical and practical dimensions of cross-border B2B e-commerce. Particular attention was given to evaluating the opportunities, challenges, and development prospects facing Vietnamese enterprises as global trade increasingly shifts toward digital platforms and technology-enabled supply chains.
Based on its analysis of international market trends and sector-specific conditions, the research proposed a range of strategic and operational measures to enhance the capacity of Vietnamese businesses to engage more effectively in global value chains through cross-border e-commerce platforms. The recommendations aim to support enterprises in expanding market access, improving competitiveness, and adapting to the accelerating pace of digital transformation and international economic integration.
Following the presentation, members of the Final Evaluation Committee and participating experts engaged in extensive discussions and provided detailed professional feedback. The Committee highly appreciated the scientific quality and practical relevance of the project, noting that the research was carefully implemented, logically structured, and closely aligned with the approved research framework. The report was also commended for its comprehensive data collection and its development of actionable recommendations to promote cross-border B2B e-commerce in the selected industries.
To further strengthen the report, the Committee recommended clarifying the scope and research subjects, incorporating a stronger long-term strategic perspective, and expanding the analysis from the viewpoints of government agencies, the business community, and the broader ecosystem supporting cross-border e-commerce development. Members also encouraged the research team to further elaborate on industry-specific solutions tailored to the textile and garment and wood furniture sectors. In addition, the Committee requested revisions to several tables and figures, along with technical and editorial refinements to ensure consistency and accuracy throughout the report.
Concluding the session, Dr. Nguyen Quang Tuyen, Chairman of the Final Evaluation Committee, expressed his appreciation to the experts and researchers for their constructive, responsible, and insightful contributions. He noted that the project had successfully fulfilled its core objectives and produced findings that could serve as a valuable reference for policymaking and strategic planning related to the development of cross-border B2B e-commerce in Vietnam’s key export industries.
Following deliberation, the Committee unanimously approved the project, subject to revision. The research team was requested to incorporate all recommendations and finalize the report to ensure the highest standards of academic quality, policy relevance, and practical applicability.
The successful completion of the project contributes to VIOIT’s ongoing efforts to support digital trade development and enhance the international competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises in an increasingly interconnected global economy.
