Hanoi, May 25, 2026 – The Vietnam Institute of Strategy and Policy for Industry and Trade (VIOIT) held an institute-level final evaluation of the research project entitled “Proposing Solutions to Promote the Participation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Green Supply Chains” at its headquarters in Hanoi. The project was undertaken by Ms. Tran Thi Quynh, M.Sc., of the Institute’s Department of Science and Training.
The Final Evaluation Committee was established under Decision No. 646/QD-CLCS, issued by the Director of VIOIT on May 15, 2026.
The Committee was chaired by Dr. Hoang Truong of VIOIT. Other members included Dr. Trinh Thi Thanh Thuy (Reviewer 1, VIOIT); Dr. Nguyen Thu Trang, Director of the Center for WTO and International Trade under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) (Reviewer 2); M.Sc. Le Nguyen Thanh (VIOIT); Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen The Vinh (Academy of Policy and Development); Dr. Trinh Quoc Vinh (VIOIT); and M.Sc. Phan The Quyet (VIOIT), who served as Secretary of the Committee.
The review session was attended by experts, researchers, Institute leaders, and representatives from various departments and divisions, as well as other interested delegates.
Presenting the project’s key findings, Ms. Tran Thi Quynh outlined the research framework, which was structured around three main chapters. The first chapter provides a comprehensive overview of green supply chain models and examines their implications for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The second chapter analyzes the current status of SME participation in green supply chains in Vietnam, identifying both opportunities and existing constraints. The final chapter proposes a set of policy recommendations and practical solutions aimed at strengthening SME integration into green supply chains and enhancing their competitiveness in the context of sustainable development and global value chain transformation.
The research addresses a highly relevant policy issue as Vietnam accelerates its transition toward a greener and more sustainable economy. By examining the challenges faced by SMEs in adopting environmentally responsible production and supply chain practices, the study seeks to provide an evidence-based foundation for policy formulation and business support initiatives.
Members of the Evaluation Committee highly appreciated the quality of the research, noting its careful preparation, systematic analysis, and strong practical significance. The project was recognized for addressing an emerging development priority and for providing valuable insights into the role of SMEs in advancing green economic transformation.
To further enhance the scientific rigor and practical applicability of the report, Committee members offered a number of recommendations. These included revising and refining the research objectives, providing a clearer analysis of the necessary and sufficient conditions for SME participation in green supply chains, reviewing and standardizing source citations, and addressing technical and editorial issues identified in the report.
Concluding the review session, Dr. Hoang Truong, Chairman of the Final Evaluation Committee, expressed his appreciation to the experts and scientists for their constructive and insightful comments. Following discussion and assessment, all Committee members unanimously agreed to officially approve the project, subject to revisions. The research team was requested to incorporate the Committee’s recommendations and finalize the report to ensure its highest academic and practical quality.
The successful acceptance of the project contributes to VIOIT’s ongoing efforts to generate policy-oriented research that supports sustainable industrial development and strengthens the capacity of Vietnamese enterprises to participate more effectively in green and resilient supply chains.
